Lately there have been some viral videos going around about Golden Stick WIFFLE Ball, which just so happens to be the league that we’ve been playing in since 2010. In a video released by Cheddar, just this past Friday, Way Too Beautiful‘s own Adam Milsted and Ian Crosby make a couple short appearances. The clips they’re in are from the 2011 Yard Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada and the 2013 Fast Pitch Open in Savannah, Georgia.
All in all, this is just another step towards getting WIFFLE on the map! Keep up the good work GSWL. The more viral videos, the better for the sport!
It’s that time of year again! The WIFFLE Fall Classic is back for its 5th annual tournament. By far, one of our favorite tournaments of the year! It looks to be another day of great weather and wiffs. This year the WIFFLE Fall Classic is raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the fight against pediatric cancer. You aren’t going to want to miss it!
In early 2016, my very close friend’s 3 year old son Blaise was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer found in his femur. Blaise is a happy, smart, sweet little boy who brings joy to his parents, Annie and Andrew, and his little sister Lucy. Happy to let everyone know, that Blaise Beat It!
After last year, we have decided to continue to help other children in their fight with cancer. Moving forward, the Wiffle Fall Classic will raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the fight against pediatric cancer.
It’s been a while since we sent out a blog post… mostly because this summer has been busier than normal. So we apologize about that, but to get back into the swing of things, we wanted to share with you this HILARIOUS skit that Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired a couple months ago. The skit is called Crab Claw WIFFLE Ball and boy did it have us laughing our asses off! Check it out below.
Now a proud sponsor of WIFFLEballtournaments.com, the Berea WIFFLE League! The BWL tournament season starts May 27th so if you are looking to join in on the fun sign up ASAP! There’s also still time to become a sponsor of their league as well. Proceeds from the BWL tournaments go to help the Berea Animal Rescue shelter. To find out more about the BWL, see the information we’ve attached below!
“The main goal of the Berea WIFFLE League is to create a fun and competitive environment that all ages can enjoy!
It all started in 2015 when four friends from Berea, Ohio organized the BWL for themselves and their friends around the backyard sport classic. All players invited to participate were drafted and played on 4 separate teams, managed by the four pals that started the league, Jacob Andrews, Matthew Yakimow, Mariano Stafford, and Brenden Piwinski. Berea WIFFLE was an instant success among everyone involved. After the first ever BWL season, the four creators didn’t want to limit the fun to just their friends, but wanted to get other kids in their community involved as well.
Their solution was to hold tournaments that anyone could participate in. The first ever tournament held, dubbed the BWL August Classic, had numerous teams join and was well received by players and parents alike. The 2016 summer, the BWL would continue with the tournament style format that everyone could enjoy. To expand on the first tournament’s success, the BWL added various other tournaments to last throughout the whole summer.
In 2017 and future seasons, the BWL looks to continue the WIFFLE tradition and give back to their community. All profits from tournaments have gone to the local Berea Animal Rescue and giving back to more local charities in the future is one of the BWL’s main objectives as a league.”

With the start of the MLB season only a few days away, I wanted to post about all the great WIFFLE ball encounters the pros had this off season…
We start in Chicago with the World Series Champions. The Cubs hosted this event last year and I guess it was a “HIT” because they brought it back for a 2nd year! The event the Cubs put on was a home run derby in Millennium Park. They invited fans to come down and see how good their swing actually was. If a fan was to hit a home run they would win tickets to a 2017 game (which could be tough to get this year… seeing as though they are the defending World Series champs).
Next we move on to Pittsburgh. This actually took place in Florida during Spring Training, but it involves the Pittsburgh Pirates. It all started when the Pirates dropped this video on February 24th of Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison playing a pickup game of WIFFLE ball after one of their practices.
Awesome stuff right!? Well, we later find out that Zach of Oakleaf WIFFLE Ball League was actually there that day throwing his nasty WIFFLE ball pitches to the Pirates players for Oakleaf’s newest YouTube video! I guess Cutch and Harrison wanted to see if they could do the same.
Finally we move on to Houston, where the Astros hosted a Play Ball event. At this event they presented all of the players with WIFFLE ball bats! Good work Houston Astros, good work!
Yesterday the #Astros Youth Academy staff hosted a Play Ball event at Change Happens, presenting the players with wiffle ball bats! pic.twitter.com/OW83ZzEtKX
Love seeing the MLB intermingle with WIFFLE ball and I’m sure this won’t be the last time either. So keep your eyes peeled and lest we not forget, “there are only three seasons a year… winter, baseball, and WIFFLE ball!”
And with that being said, WIFFLE ball season is right around the corner too, so make sure you are checking wiffleballtournaments.com to find leagues and tournaments near you!
“Carl Coffee, Josh Smith, and occasional guest hosts have a true nationally focused WIFFLE ball podcast. The Dudes bring the energy, excitement, and WIFFLE knowledge you are looking for. We feel these are the golden years of WIFFLE ball, and they shouldn’t be wasted. The Dudes will be interviewing WIFFLE personalities, breaking down leagues and tournaments, and occasionally may even be insightful.”
The Two WIFFLE Dudes podcast is now ranked #38 in the Podomatic sports podcasts rankings… THIS IS AMAZING!
Back in January, Ian Crosby and myself joined in on their podcast. We talked about WIFFLEballtournaments.com and what its like to be a part of Way Too Beautiful… along with plenty of other stories in the half hour interview. Take a listen below (our interview starts at the 22:30 mark)!!
Hope you enjoyed! Make sure you keep up to date with all of the Two WIFFLE Dudes Podcasts on…

Will Tom Brady and the Patriots win their fifth Super Bowl this weekend? Or will Philly native, Matt “Matty Ice” Ryan, defeat the dynasty and bring Atlanta home their first ever?
If the Patriots play as bad as Gronk’s swing looks in this picture… we think Atlanta will be the ones with #NoWorries.
WIFFLE Ball is a 5-year-old terrier mix who, sadly, has been struck with terminal cancer… WIFFLE Ball has had a number of health issues since arriving at Richmond Animal League in Virginia. WIFFLE Ball tested positive for a very severe case of heart worms and after he overcame that, caught pneumonia. Now, after battling those illnesses, the doctors have discovered WIFFLE Ball has lymphoma.
Upon this horrible news, the shelter wanted WIFFLE Ball to enjoy the time he had left. They quickly discovered some of WIFFLE Ball’s favorite things include: McDonald’s french fries and Pup Cups from Starbucks, as you can see in this video that was posted to RAL’s Facebook page:
The video was posted on December 16th with the caption, “WIFFLE Ball has survived so much since coming to RAL, but now he has cancer he is not going to overcome. The least we could do is give WIFFLE Ball a very good day at the end of a very bad year. That day was today. Someone is coming to meet WIFFLE Ball on Sunday and wants to adopt him. We’re going to do all that we can to make sure he has many more good days in the coming weeks. Thank you all for supporting us and making days like today possible. Love.”
WIFFLE Ball’s story began to go viral, being spotted not only in Virginia, but Utah and Chicago as well. His story also made it’s way to AOL News and People Magazine. Here is a clip from one of the segments that aired:
Finally, on December 18th, RAL made one more post about WIFFLE Ball… and this was the best news yet!
WIFFLE Ball found his Forever Home… and just in time for Christmas! If that news doesn’t melt your heart, you might not be human.
Merry Christmas WIFFLE Ball! We hope you get to enjoy all of the french fries and Pup Cups your little heart desires!
Check out Richmond Animal League‘s Facebook page for up to date information about WIFFLE Ball’s story.
A couple months ago, I stumbled upon this video on YouTube:
After watching, I needed to know more! I reached out to Christian, who was part of this WIFFLE ball experience in Nicaragua.
Q: What brought you to Nicaragua?
A: “I was part of a 24 person medical mission team from Nashville. We were a group of physicians, medical students, nursing students and some family members who served there for 8 days providing medical care to medically unserved people. We were from MCF (Medical Christian Fellowship) at Vanderbilt University and Community Bible Church and had clinics 5 days serving 700 people with both medical care and sharing the hope of the Gospel of Jesus.”
Q: Why did you choose WIFFLE ball as an activity?
A: “While we were attending a church service on Sunday, the kids broke out the WIFFLE ball! I couldn’t resist jumping in with them.”
Q: How did the kids enjoy it?
A: “Kids loved it. I learned that the Nicaraguan girls must be taken seriously on the WIFFLE field. I tossed some gentle underhanders to them and they crushed it!”
Q: Have you done this anywhere else?
A: “My history of WIFFLE goes back years. Our church (Community Bible Church) hosts a Father-Son WIFFLE ball tournament every year in February (snow or shine)! We have done this for the last 5 years and it is hosted by one of our members, Ben Zobrist of the Chicago Cubs. We also have several minor league players and college players join us. It’s an awesome time. Our team won the championship this year! (see attached pic)
Christian said that he plans on attending the Father-Son WIFFLE ball tournament again this year, but has no future plans on any more foreign WIFFLE ball experience… at the moment.
We will certainly keep an eye out to see if that changes!
Thirty years ago, the world was introduced to three guys from New York City by the names of Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz, Adam “MCA” Yauch (RIP), and Michael “Mike D” Diamond… otherwise know as the Beastie Boys. November 15, 1986 is a day that would forever moralize this group with the release of their debut album, License To Ill. You may recall songs such as “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party),” “No Sleep Till Brooklyn,” and “Brass Monkey.” These songs were each greater than the next, but a song that will forever live in the WIFFLE community is “Paul Revere.” This is because the Beastie Boys would use a verse in this song that went “I did it like this, I did it like that. I did it with a WIFFLE ball bat.” In honor of this thirty year anniversary the Beastie Boys will be having a deluxe vinyl re-release of the album!
As announced by the Beastie Boys on Twitter the other night, you can pre-order the deluxe vinyl re-release of License To Ill now! The album is due out October 14, 2016.
